Tech Tip: Insulate your AMC's interior from heat AND noise for around $50!

When I had new carpeting installed, I wanted to make sure my car was shielded from heat and sound.  I wanted to do it inexpensively and didn't want to add weight.  My upholstery specialist said he had used Reflectix (instead of sound / heat deadening materials like Dynamat that cost 8 to 10 times the price).  He recommended I go to Lowes and purchase Reflectix (25ft x 48").  That's enough material to do your entire floor pan, area behind the back seat, under the package tray and behind the door panels.  Installation is a snap required only to clean your area first with a heavy duty degreaser (you may need a putty knife to remove old jute backing), cut to trim with a pair of scissors and use 3M spray adhesive with a roller.  Total cost:  $50 plus tax.  How well does it work?  The interior is definitely cooler and now I can actually hear the radio at 80MPH whereas I couldn't before.

Buy Reflectix now from Lowes
